I'm having a good time trying to digest "Nurtureshock" by Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman. A lot of ideas in this book turn current parenting ideas on their ears. Some of it simply makes sense to me...and some of it throws me into a fit of denial. The studies mentioned do make you think, though. Give it a try!
